Fellowships are offered for the academic year and for summer. The program's priority is to encourage the study of less commonly taught languages.

 Eligibility
·         FLAS Fellows must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
·         FLAS Fellows must be enrolled as full-time students at the University of Michigan. Students graduating in May or August 2013 are not eligible.

Application Deadline: February 1, 2013

More information, including a list of eligible languages at: www.ii.umich.edu/flas

FLAS Fellowships are administered by the Area Studies Centers at the International Institute and are awarded competitively through annual fellowship competitions. The U.S. Department of Education funds these awards under the provisions of Title VI of the Higher Education Act.
