Students For Global Engagement Mass Meeting: Friday, September 21st

Are you a globally interested student?

Do you think about the future of global engagement?

Do you have an interesting perspective to share?

MASS MEETING

Friday, September 21st

5:00-6:00 pm

Mason Hall, Room 3356

RSVP on Facebook (or just show up!)

Born out of the Peace Corps 50th Anniversary in 2010, SGE seeks to continue the legacy by promoting and empowering students to engage in responsible global service. SGE puts on an annual symposium that brings together students, student speakers, presenters, and participants to engage in dialogue pertaining to global service. In the past, this event has been hugely successful with 80-100 attendees. The organization seeks to create a safe space for students to engage in dialogue and to develop cultural understanding in shared experiences through various projects.  It is a great opportunity to be involved in and gain leadership experience. There is no other organization like it on campus! So join us this Friday!

*If you are unable to attend the mass meeting, but would still like to be involved, please email studentsforglobalengagement@umich.edu and we can send you more information and add you to our email list for future meetings.

Volunteer in Ecuador through the Quito Project -- Mass Meetings throughout September!

Buen día,

Are you looking for an international volunteer experience?

Do you speak Spanish proficiently and want to improve your language skills?

Do you have an interest in teaching, children, community development, or social justice?

Do you want an eye-opening experience?

Do you want to meet and work closely with other motivated U-M undergrads, med students, public health students, social work students as well as Ecuadorian students and professionals?

Look no farther than The Quito Project, a University of Michigan-sponsored program that sends students and professionals to work with the under-served community of San Martín in southern Quito, Ecuador.

As a member of the education component of the project, you will provide individualized academic support to students in grades 1-6 in math as well as Spanish literacy. Beyond this academic context, you serve as both a role model and friend to the students with whom you work.

The Quito Project is a well-established program that has provided a once-in-a-lifetime experience to hundreds of U-M students over the past decade. Alumni have gone on to Teach for America, The Fulbright Scholar Program, UM Law School, UM Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, Columbia University School of Social Work, Partners in Health (Socios en
Salud) and a host of other international volunteer organizations.

We hope that you will be able to attend one of the following mass meetings scheduled for early September. Also, don't forget to check out The Quito Project's website at www.thequitoproject.org.
