Are you interested in social entrepreneurship?
Are you interested in learning about other cultures and willing to challenge yourself?
MPowered Entrepreneurship is pleased to announce our summer social entrepreneurship immersion program: The Kenya Project. The Kenya Project brings UM students from all majors and all backgrounds to Kenya to give them a chance to translate their passions into positive social impact through startup experience and intercultural awareness. No prior entrepreneurial experience is necessary.
This program includes the following:
- Preparatory workshops: Weekly meetings throughout the winter semester to cover topics ranging from local Kenyan culture to social entrepreneurship keys to success.
- Access to experienced professionals: Mentorship from the board of the MichiKen nonprofit, connections to professors, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists, and a chance to pitch your idea to a board of entrepreneurial experts at UM.
- Diverse cultural experience: Collaboration with local Kenyan leaders to tackle needs of the Meru community while creating international networks and friendships.
- Freedom to explore: You'll be given the tools and logistical support needed to carry out ideas, but what those particular ideas are and how they will take form is up to you. Pursue your passion, be it business, art, technology, biology, ecology, agriculture, etc. You will truly be the embodiment of an "entrepreneur" and may find a passion that motivates the rest of your time here at the University of Michigan and beyond.
