Want to learn how you can make an impact in the lives of under-served students around the world? Join us for more information about international teaching opportunities with WorldTeach (www.worldteach.org). We'll share nuts and bolts logistical information about our summer and postgrad opportunities, you'll hear personal experiences from WorldTeach alumni, and we'll wrap up with questions and answers.

Background Information WorldTeach was founded in 1986 by a group of Harvard students who were motivated by the desire to promote local education initiatives in places where teachers and resources were lacking. Today, we continue to provide opportunities for individuals to serve as volunteer teachers around the world, working to educate under-served students in countries that would otherwise be unable to afford or locate qualified teachers. Each year, we send about 400 volunteers, impassioned by that same desires as our founders, to local schools and host communities in countries around the world that have specifically requested our support. Since our inception, we have placed over 7,000 volunteers throughout Asia, Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Pacific, providing them with teacher training, language preparation, and field support, empowering them to affect lasting change in the community where they work.

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, read on!

In partnership with Ministries of Education and local organizations,
WorldTeach volunteers serve in 6 Latin American countries:

Guyana
Chile
Colombia
Costa Rica
Ecuador
Panama

While volunteers in Guyana teach math and science, volunteers in the Chile
Patagonia Sur Year (different from Chile program) teach environmental
studies, and those in the remaining programs teach English at various
levels. The majority of the programs depart in Jan or Feb of 2013, with the
exception of Guyana which departs in August. Our programs vary in length,
allowing volunteers to choose among summer, semester, and year-long
programs. Those who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching abroad
might also be interested in participating in our accredited TEFL
certification program. *We invite you to learn more about these programs at
our website www.worldteach.org. **Many of **the programs have a deadline in
October, so make sure to get started on your application soon!*

WorldTeach is a well-established NGO founded in 1986 by a group of Harvard
students who were motivated by the desire to promote education at the local
level in places where teachers and resources were lacking. Each year, we
send about 500 volunteers, impassioned by that same desire, to the local
schools and the host communities in developing countries around the world
that have specifically requested our support. Since our inception, we have
placed over 5,000 volunteers, providing them with teacher training,
language preparation, and field support, empowering them to affect lasting
change on the community they work with so that their influence will survive
their experience. Fully and partially funded programs available for
year-long and semester programs.

Immediate Openings for Teaching English Abroad (WorldTeach)

WorldTeach, www.worldteach.org, is currently still accepting applications for some of our immediate openings as several of our partners have requested additional volunteers.

Volunteer responsibilities range from program to program. American Samoa is looking for a volunteer science teacher. The Chuuk, Micronesia program is looking for a head teacher to manage basic administrative work amongst the WorldTeach volunteers, as well as volunteers to teach science, math, and English. In Pohnpei, Micronesia, a volunteer with a masters degree in mathematics is needed to teach at the College of Micronesia. Lastly, we are seeking two more volunteers to help teach English and computer skills to leprosy-affected families in India. We would greatly appreciate it if you could forward these along to your students and colleagues.

Thank you,

 Thanh Nguyen

*American Samoa* – Volunteer Teacher: We are looking for one more volunteer with a science background. Thanks to generous funding from the American Samoa Department of Education, this program will be fully funded. To apply, please send resume (include two references) and cover letter to admissions@worldteach.org.

*Chuuk, Micronesia – Head Teacher*: Situated in one of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Chuuk program will complement our existing partnerships in Pohnpei and Kosrae. The Head Teacher position is a part-time one-year commitment with responsibilities for the day-to-day management of the WorldTeach program in Chuuk, the ongoing support and oversight of volunteers, and the coordination with the hosting schools and Chuuk Department of Education. The Head Teacher also teaches part time. *Chuuk, Micronesia – Volunteer Teacher:* The majority of volunteers will teach English, math, and science at Chuuk High School in the capital of Weno. Thanks to generous funding from the Chuuk Department of Education, this program will be fully funded. Room and board are provided in-country. A stipend will be provided on a monthly basis to volunteers during the school year. Due to safety concerns on the island for expatriate women, we strongly encourage only men to apply for the first year of this program. To apply, please upload your resume and essays to our online application, and email admissions@worldteach.org to express interest.

*Guyana – Volunteer Teacher:* We are proud of our strong partnership with the Guyanese Ministry of Education (MoE) that makes this program possible, and invite you to join us in our mission to aid the Guyanese government in achieving its educational goals. Guyana is the only English speaking country in South America where the language of instruction in schools is English. The MoE sponsors volunteers to teach a variety of subject areas, with a focus on math and science, in public schools scattered throughout the country. Volunteers depart in August for 11 months. The partially funded volunteer commitment of $2500 covers airfare, health and evacuation insurance, housing, and monthly stipend.
