Cultural Vistas Upcoming Deadlines + Extended Office Hours


This is a reminder that the application deadline for many Cultural Vistas programs in 2013 is this Saturday, Dec. 1. Therefore, Peggy Wunderwald-Jensen will have extended office hours (MLB Room 3416) to answer your questions or help you with your German resume (for the Summer Internship Program application). Please note that those are walk-in hours, so she does not make appointments during those times:

Below is an overview of the programs (hyperlinks take you to the websites and online applications). The programs marked in red have an application deadline of Dec 1, 2012.

Internship opportunities worldwide for U.S. students (U.S. citizens and international students) majoring in technical fields; all internships are paid; internships are 2-3 months in the summer (fall and long-term internships are also available).
Application deadline: December 1, 2012
Foreign language skill requirements vary by position.

·         Summer Internships in GermanySpainArgentina and Chile 2013
Placement programs open to U.S. students in all fields (note: international students can only apply to the program in Germany); internships are 2-3 months; mostly paid in Germany, unpaid in Spain, Argentina and Chile.
Application deadlines:
Dec 3, 2012 (Germany) & Jan 15, 2013 (Spain, Argentina, Chile).
German or Spanish language skills required.

Internship opportunities for students with U.S. or Canadian citizenship to complete one- to three-month internships with German state parliaments and ministries in early summer, or fall 2013.
Application deadline: December 1, 2012, for early summer 2013.
German language skills required.

Three-month (June-August) work-study immersion program for college students in vocational fields; fellowship covers language course costs, international flight and provides a monthly stipend of Euro 300. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Application deadline: December 1, 2012.
At least one semester of German instruction required.

The inaugural class of (12) Cultural Vistas Fellows will participate in eight-week internships in Buenos Aires, Berlin, and Singapore, complemented by a virtual learning seminar on sustainability issues. Fellowship covers program-related travel expenses, accommodation, seminar. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Application deadline: January 4, 2013
Prior knowledge of language of host country (applicable in Germany and Argentina only) required.

Full year, reciprocal work-study scholarship program providing U.S. students and young professionals ages with an understanding of everyday life, education, and professional training in Germany. Full-year scholarship includes round-trip transatlantic flight, university tuition, language training, living stipend, and program-related travel costs in Germany. Current students, graduating seniors and alumni ages 18-24 are eligible--applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Application deadline: December 1, 2012
Prior knowledge of language of German helpful but not required.
