Armenian Studies Fellowships for Graduate Students

The Armenian Studies Program (ASP) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, offersArmenian Studies Fellowships to graduate students for 2012-2013. These fellowships will be awarded to incoming graduate students at the University of Michigan who expect to focus their graduate work around Armenian studies through pursuit of a PhD with one of the university’s social science or humanities departments. Master’s students with the Center for Russian and East European Studies or the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies may also be nominated. All initial application materials should be directed to the relevant departments and to Rackham Graduate School. Also please note that departments have their own application deadlines that may be prior to the nomination deadline. The scope and number of fellowships awarded is contingent on the availability of funds.

The Armenian Studies Program expects its fellows to participate in the various lectures, events and conferences sponsored by the program. Considerations will be given concerning schedule conflicts.
Fellowship recipients will be considered by nomination of departments, centers or schools. The scope and number of fellowships awarded is contingent on the availability of funds.
Nominating departments/schools must provide;1. A copy of all application materials submitted for consideration of admission.
2. A letter of support from the department chair and/or faculty advisor, including;

a. information on other funding to be offered to the nominee
b. the proposed use of Armenian Studies Fellowship funds
c. a brief explanation about how this student's work--if not obvious from the application--would contribute to Armenian studies.
