Connecting Our World Student Diplomat Video Contest
Connecting Our World (powered by NAFSA: Association of International Educators), in partnership with STA Travel, is hosting a video contest to give you the opportunity to share how your study abroad experience made you a student diplomat.
Are you a student diplomat? The world’s greatest diplomats are skilled at listening and learning, not only about other people and countries, but about themselves and their own country, too. Do you have a study abroad story that reflects diplomacy at its best? Share your story through the Connecting Our World Student Diplomat Video Contest.
Video submissions should tell a compelling story about how students can become "student diplomats" while studying abroad, by connecting in a meaningful way with people and cultures in other countries, adapting to new environments and languages, challenging their own misconceptions, and becoming more prepared for school and future careers.
The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM EST on November 1, 2012. After a slate of finalists is chosen by an expert judging panel, the winning and runner-up videos will be selected through open voting on the Connecting Our World website. The winner will receive a $1,000 travel voucher from STA Travel and the title of "2012 Student Diplomat." The runner-up will receive a hand-held flip camera from Connecting Our World and NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
If you are a student, you are also invited to join our student community at www.facebook.com/StudentsCoWorld which will keep you updated about the contest. If you are not a student, please help spread the word by using the tips and ideas on this page.
