Did you know that the U.S. Department of State accepts interns (in Washington, D.C. and abroad) during the academic year, too?
See the email announcement below from Diplomat-in-Residence Jim Ellickson-Brown, about the upcoming July 1st deadline for internships that will take place during the Winter 2014 semester. The deadline for Summer 2014 internships will be November 1st.
To find out more, view the Student Internship Program brochure here.
We would strongly encourage you to take advantage of the Diplomat-in-Residence's offer to answer questions and assist with applications!
----------
The application deadline for applying is quite early (July 1)
due to the fact that all interns with the Department of State must
obtain a security clearance. Applicants who are selected as either
primary or alternate candidates will be notified by the middle of
September, at which point they start the security clearance process.
Even for students who are not 100% sure they want to do an internship
with the Department, I encourage them to apply in order to keep the
option open.
I would be happy to answer questions from interested students and assist them with their applications.
Best regards,
Jim Ellickson-Brown
