Apply by October 15 | Teaching abroad programs that depart in December 2014/January 2015
WorldTeach, a non-profit organization that started at Harvard University, partners with ministries of education across the globe to provide volunteer teachers to fill educational needs that the ministry has self-identified. We have three programs that depart right after December commencement, for which we will be accepting applications until October 15th.
- Namibia: Teach English, math, science and computer technology in primary and secondary schools in rural communities. Departs late December for one year.
- Costa Rica: Teach English in public elementary schools, including bilingual schools, in rural communities. Departs early January for one year.
- Colombia: Teach English in elementary, high school or university in rural and urban placements. Departs early January for one year.
Yearlong volunteers receive:
- Housing (provided by school or host family)
- Monthly stipend
- Visa sponsorship
- Health & emergency evacuation insurance
- Month long in-country orientation focused on teacher training, language and cultural immersion, health and safety briefing
- Mid-Service Training Conference, and End of Service Conference
- Meals and housing during orientation and conferences
- Transportation between training and placement sites
- Professional development through Teacher Quality Program, including mentorship by remote Teacher Quality Coordinator
- Support from full time, in-country field staff
- TEFL Certification available in some placements (optional)
Qualifications: Applicants must be native English speakers, of any nationality, and be between the ages of 21-73. A Bachelor's degree is required at the time of departure. No teaching experience is necessary, but an interest in teaching, and a flexible, mature attitude, are attributes of a successful volunteer.

Leader.Conversation Circles is a program offered through the English Language Institute (ELI), designed to connect non-native and native English speakers in small groups for a weekly hour of cross-cultural conversations.

-- broaden your cross-cultural experience
-- strengthen your resume
-- explore language learning issues
-- have some "no-homework" fun chilling out with a small group of international students at your favorite Ann Arbor hangout

Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA)
INFO SESSION | Tuesday, August 19th @ 12 PM
Room 1644, School of Social Work Building
Fulbright ETA grantees are placed as assistants to English teachers at the primary, secondary, or university level. Placement is typically part-time and an additional independent project is expected.Fulbright ETAs:
- Are not necessarily required to have teaching experience (varies by country)
- Are placed outside of capital cities
- Assist approx. 20 hours per week in class
- Serve as American cultural ambassadors
- May pursue individual study/research plans in addition to ETA responsibilities
Eligibility
To apply for this program through the U-M Ann Arbor campus, applicants must:- be U-M students, alumni, or staff;
- be U.S. citizens;
- have completed an undergraduate degree by the beginning of the award; and
- demonstrate the language skills necessary to complete the proposed project.
- Enrolled students are required to apply through U-M.
The campus deadline is September 8, 2014 at noon. Those who wish to benefit from the campus interview must submit complete applications by the campus deadline (September 8). Those who wish to forgo the benefit of the interview may still apply through U-M by the national deadline (October 14).

Passport Agency will host a special passport application acceptance
event for the general public. Details below:

Customers are encouraged to print their applications online at www.travel.state.gov/passport and bring their completed, but unsigned forms to the agency on September 6. This website also contains more information about how to apply for a U.S.
passport, necessary documents, and fees, as well as information about
safe international travel.
Some Basic Requirements:
1) Proof of U.S. Citizenship
2) One Passport Size Photo
3) Application
4) Government Issued Photo Id
5) Minors must physically appear with both parents
6) Payment—(Check/MO, Credit/Debit Cards, Cash if Exact Amount)
